Homework Policy

Mrs. Klumb

I believe homework is important because it is a valuable tool in helping students make the most of their experience in school. Homework helps reinforce what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility and helps students develop positive study habits.

The good habits your child establishes now will most likely carry though out their academic career!!!

Homework will be explained to the children and will have a due date at the top. Homework should take your third grader approximately 30 minutes each night to complete. Your child should be fairly independent in completing their homework, as I go over what is expected in class.

If your child is taking longer than 30 minutes to complete please send a note. It is better to keep homework time as positive and stress-free as possible.

If your child does not have an assignment for class, please remember your child should be engaged in 10 – 15 minutes of pleasurable reading each day. This includes your child reading to you, you reading to your child or shared reading. (Visits to the library may help.)

I expect homework to be neat and in most cases in pencil. I will check all homework assignments and record them in my grade book. I will support good homework habits by giving praise and other incentives.

Let me know if I can help!
