Learning Expectations:

* Use logical reasoning to analyze information from graphs and charts.

* Use a key to determine the number of units represented in a picture graph.

* Understand that when there is a large range of data it can be organized into

intervals.

Sample Problems:

Look for a graph or chart in magazines. Bring them in to discuss in class.

Using your graph our chart, think of an interesting question about the information given.

Look for the title of the graph. If it doesn’t have a title, could you think of a title?

A graph is a kind of drawing that shows mathematical information, ideas and relationships.

Below make a graph for your family or friends for their favorite food or pet.

You may also use the back side or a new sheet of paper.

You may want to include a key. The key is the part of the graph or a map that explains the symbols. Also called a legend.

Keep in mind the scale is an arrangement of numbers in some order at uniform intervals.
