Topic # 13 Analyzing 3 - Dimensional Shapes
Learning Expectations:
* Construct 3 - dimensional geometric shapes based on pictures and descriptions.
* Identify and build 3 - dimensional objects from 2 - dimensional nets.
(A net is another name for a cutout shape; it is a flat shape that can be folded to
make a solid shape.)
* Given the volume and the number of layers, determine the number of units in each
layer.
Sample Problems:
Look at a box in your kitchen. Does a rectangular prism (box) have more corners or edges? _______________________________
Write as may clues as you can to describe a cylinder. Look at a soup can for help.

If you have an empty box at home. For example Mac and Cheese. Unfold it to see what the net looks like.
Think of an object that is. . . .

Reminder: A vertex is a point, or corner, where the sides of a shape, the rays of an angle, or the edges of a solid meet.
The plural of vertex is vertices.
Challenge: Draw a three-dimensional shape (3-D)
